Rescue Skin Care and Hair Removal Studio

January 20th, 2014

We had a few new clients come by to try us out as their regular spa had suddenly closed.  RESCUE SKIN CARE and HAIR REMOVAL STUDIO (Granville and 7th) is completely empty ( walked by today) with a “For Lease” sign in the window.  Any clients that have gift certificates for Rescue Skin Care are welcome to come in and use them.  We will honour 30% of the value of the certificates until March 31, 2014.   As far as location goes we are actually quite close and have convenient FREE PARKING. Our prices are comparable as well. One of our most popular services are Brazilian waxes for both men and women  and we offer 50% off every 5th one!   If you have been a client at Rescue and need a new place to go for waxing or any of your esthetics -give us a try.  We would love the opportunity to become your new beauty stop!!

Cheers,

Cathy

Why do we use toners?

January 8th, 2014

People never really know why we should use toners.  After all, it looks like water and you don’t feel any different after using it.  What most of us don’t realize is that a bit of oil is actually good for your skin.  When you strip everything  away (usually after washing face) your skin will go into hyper drive and over produce oil.  So, too much oil is a bad thing but not enough oil is also bad thing.  Toners are designed to re balance you acidic mantle (the oil that our cleanser so helpfully stripped away).  Essentially they restore your skin’s natural PH balance.

They also help your skin absorb more of your moisturizer so you can use less and save some money.  If you have ever tried soaking  up water with a dry, hard,  crispy sponge vs a hydrated wrung out sponge – you will notice the “damp” sponge soaks up more water, more quickly.  This works the same for your skin.   Another good reason for using a toner is this :   A  lovely European esthetician once told me that the pipes our water travels through are not so “clean” ( in fact kinda gross) so you should wipe your skin off with toner (using a cotton pad or ball) after washing it- before applying ANYTHING.   Thus creating a perfect canvas for your daily skin care.

So whether you’re looking for something to help reduce puffiness, help constrict pores, a soothing protective environmental barrier  or a quick sip of rehydration for your skin in the middle of the day, toners are one of the most helpful “helper” product you can have in your cabinet.

So come on in and let us help you find the best toner for your skin!

Cheers,

Cathy
